Who I am…
I am a photographer. I am a lot of other things too, but there was one passion that I truly anchored myself within as I grew these past few years. Photography. I had a number of cameras growing up, but the passion didn’t truly take hold until the early months of 2020. During COVID’s lockdown, I latched onto photography. It was my escape, my reason to leave my house, to go sit in nature. It grounded me within the world and gave me a lens through which I could direct my energy.
In the years since I explored the many different genres, settling mostly into shooting live music events and portraits. The energy and (with hope, structured) chaos of concerts create an environment in which I thrive. My mind is driven to experiment, explore, and work to capture each impactful moment.
In my portraits, I found enjoyment in a more controlled and thought-out artistic process. Connecting with subjects, intentional collaborative creation, and the journey to capture one’s personality within a snapshot of time. These are what fuel my work in portraiture.
While I thrive in high-energy environments, at my heart I am someone who greatly values time spent alone; time spent in nature, and time spent exploring the city I live in. Even in this, I am a photographer. I take my camera on hikes, shooting landscapes and capturing wildlife. I take my camera on walks through the city, shooting the streets and trying to capture the emotions presented to me within day-to-day life.
I think I have always had a creative mind, it just took me a while to find my outlet. Now that I have, I hope to grow and use my skills to find stability and sustain myself, all the while sharing my art with all who wish to engage with it.
